The general objectives of the Alcantara initiative are: – To perform frequent scientific and technical studies of relevance to ESA programmes with a focus on applied space researchinregions beyond ESA Member States, in collaboration with researchers in those regions. – To support work of emerging research leaders within the international community, while giving them a chance to contribute to ESA’s activities, programmes and priorities. -To facilitate the involvement of leading European researchers who are part of research groups with demonstrated experience in working with partners beyond ESA Member States.
