The proposed ‘Bit Torrent’ network is an adaptation of the well known internet data distribution model for mission operations. It is characterised by a high density mesh network of mini, non-pointing antennas on ground that act as seeders (uplinkers/downlinkers) for spacecraft when they are receiving commands and the mission centres or mobile terminals on ground when they are receiving mission or housekeeping data. This concept is to be assessed for technical feasibility and capacity of data transfer possible.
