This activity is part of ESA efforts for Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation (AI4EO). This activity shall focus on AI-empowered Super Resolution techniques for Sentinel-2 and shall be demonstrated through a suite of downstream applications. One of the key issues to foster the uptake of AI is the lack of trust in the „black box”. This activity aims to develop some tools and methodologies to enhance confidence in the results and better quantify uncertainties. Getting more insight into the „black box” is hence critical to ensure better interpretable sciences and innovative commercial application. In this context, ESA is planning a family of activities addressing Explainable AI (xAI). This one is the first step in that direction.
