Millimeter-wave and sub-millimeter-wave MMIC processes and components are required for radiometer receivers dedicated to atmospheric sounding (frequency: 50GHz to 664GHz) in Small Satellites Earth Observation (SSEO) missions. Experience from pre-development and project qualification of MMIC components within Metop-SG has shown that early reliability testing of new technologies through stress tests, endurance tests and environmental tests is mandatory to catch process reliability and reproducibility issues as soon as possible. Especially, for future new space small satellite missions, where the shorter development project life cycle means there is no time for process reliability improvement within the implementation time of the project. This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Identification of critical millimeter-wave and sub-millimeter-wave processes and components needed for future small satellite EO mission concepts- Selection of a minimum of two sub-millimeter-wave MMIC processes- Selection and definition of at least one existing MMIC design per MMIC process- Test plan definition taking into account the environmental and operational lifetime requirements of future small satellite EO missions- Wafer manufacturing- MMIC assembly in test blocks/packages as required- Reliability testing- Results assessment and definition of process improvements and corrective actions.Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl.
