KICK-START THEMATIC CALL: CARBON CAPTURE, STORAGE AND SEQUESTRATION
17, februarie 2022

ESA Open Invitation to Tender: 1-11241
Open Date: 16/02/2022 14:15 CEST
Closing Date: 25/03/2022 13:00 CEST

The objective of this Kick Start is to analyse the technical and economic feasibility of new services and solutions related to Carbon Capture, Storage and Sequestration. The services/solutions put forward should use space assets, such as one or more of Earth observation, Satellite Communication, Satellite Navigation, and Human Spaceflight technologies, or otherwise serve the Space sector/ecosystem. Solutions should broadly address one or more of the identified key focus areas: Technological carbon capture and storage – support identification of suitable and safe geographical sites for deployment, monitor environmental, industrial, and geological risksrelated to carbon transport and storage, such as potential carbon leaks and geological events, support measurement/computation and monitoring of total net carbon emissions balance (taking into account end-to-end emissions and removal actions), support efficient carbon capture and storage operations. Biological carbon removal and sequestration – support measurement/computation and monitoring of total net carbon balance, support monitoring of afforestation/reforestation/restoration actions, support identification of sites for afforestation, reforestation restoration actions, support monitoring of farming sequestration actions, support efficient afforestation/reforestation/restoration actions.
