The European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) is ESAs main project in the field of formal primary and secondary school education. Under the coordination of ESA and with the support of national institutions and organizations active in the field of formal education, the project aims at enabling capacity building in the primary and secondary teacher communities and at designing and promoting the use of curricular classroom resources and activities that make use of space as a context for the teaching and learning of STEM-related disciplines. The ESERO project is based on the assumption that the most effective intervention and support into Europes educational systems, all having different school curricula and languages, is the one able to adapt to the different national needsand priorities. Education activities delivered by each ESERO are tailored to the specific situation in each Member State, in close collaboration with ESA and the national space agencies, and are able to support specific national STEM education policies and objectives. To that end, national ESERO offices are established to operate across their hosting country. They are staffed by national education experts able to work in strong synergy and partnership with the national education authorities, stakeholders and networks, as well as the national space sector an approach that has already proven to be effective and successful in several European countriessince 2006, when the project was established.
