The Hera cubesat missions main objectives are to complement the Hera spacecraft measurement by assessing the physical and dynamical properties of Didymoon. Knowledge of these properties is necessary to characterize the DART impact and assess the outcome of the deflection test, and crucial for our understanding of the evolution of asteroids. The cubesat shall embark the ASPECT instrument, an imaging spectrometer measuring from 0.5µm to 2.5µm. The instrument is split into three measurement channels, one in the visible (VIS), and two in the infrared (NIR and SWIR). Within its spectral range major common silicate minerals as olivine and orthopyroxene as well as the hydration features can be detected. Detailed study of the DART impact site and a global mapping of the impact ejecta will provide insights into the impact processes as well as space weathering effects on small asteroids. Finally, by varying observations at different phase angles, photometric modelling and characterization of surface roughness or regolith grain size will be enabled. The Contractor shall be responsible for the full flight configuration including the integration and system level tests of its payload. The contractor shall organise the work so as to fulfil to overall technical and programmatic requirements and ensure the launch in October 2024.
