The objective of this activity is to establish current information needs and best practises for the use of Earth Observation based products and services within two industrial sectors, Agro-Insurance and Mining/Extractives/Raw materialsThe scope of this call includes all relevant business processes within the two sectors. For Agro-insurance this includes policy pricing, underwriting, loss assessment and claims management. For Mining, the full lifecycle of a mining project shall be analysed, including exploration, mine-site design and planning, construction, production and decommissioning. The analysis shall include the identification and consolidation of geo-information needs and priorities, identification and characterization of EO based products and services and the definitionof a roadmap for building EO industry guidelines for the commonly accepted best-practice use of EO-based information by all companies within the two industry sectors. The results from the analysis will be made available to the two industries via key International Associations and bodies representing the sectors. The Agro-Insurance sector will be represented by the Working Group ASV, whichis composed of Austrian Hail insurance, Swiss Hail Insurance and Vereinigte Hail Insurance. These three specialized crop insurance companies offer multiple peril crop insurance, e.g. hail, frost, drought, storm, heavy rainfall etc., and currently operate in 19 countries within the European Union The Mining/Raw Materials sector will be represented by the International Study Groups of the Copper, Nickel, Lead and Zinc industries, together with the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Raw Materials.
