ESA Open Invitation to Tender: 1-10882
Open Date: 13/08/2021 15:38 CEST
Closing Date: 15/10/2021 13:00 CEST
The „Deep ESDL” activity aims at a scientific and technical evolution of the Earth System Data Lab, expanding the data offering across domains to facilitate advanced Earth System Science research as well as strengthening the processing capabilities, and enabling collaborative research. The Deep ESDL aims to provide an enhanced capacity to reveal and characterise dependencies in the complex multi-variate data space by incorporating Machine Learning capabilities. It shall furthermore allow for more agility in algorithm development for selected science cases through flexible generation Analysis-Ready datacubes, opportunities for easy integration of user-owned data, more straightforward discovery mechanisms for EO-based products, datasets and workflows, as well as through enhanced capacity for distributed teams to retrieve and jointly process these data with their own algorithms, reuse workflows and algorithms from collaborative working groups, visualise and dynamically adjust model parameters and display the resulting products on an advanced 4D visualisation environment, in an Open Science framework. The activity is intended as to serve scientific activities across ESA, and also non-ESA projects (EC and nationally funded activities), in a more collaborative manner), and on the other hand the Earth Science community at large, stimulating innovation in EO through advanced platform and big-data technologies, and addressing the growing demand for Earth System science data.
