The European Extraterrestrial Sample Infrastructure (EETSI) system study will provide the technical and programmatic input necessary to support eventual decision-making by Member States concerning the development of infrastructure dedicated to the receiving and curation of extraterrestrial samples directly returned from space. The system study will build upon previous studies and achieve a higher level of architectural and engineering design, as well as costs estimate and return on investment. Existing facilities that could be supporting the future development of an uncontained EETSI will be assessed.
