This activity addresses the procurement of a high performance entangled photon source (EPS) demonstration model in the Secure And cryptoGrAphic (SAGA) project under ARTES 4.0 Space Systems for Safety and Security (4S) strategic programme line. The high performance EPS demonstration model activity has the following objectives: (1) Identifying and demonstrating a suitable technology and design for an EPS fulfilling >1 Gpairs/s requirement (and other performance requirements). (2) Design and procurement of test equipment forperformance verification tests simulating the SAGA optical link attenuation in different satellite orbits and demonstrating the resulting quantum key generation rate. (3) Manufacturing and performance testing of a laboratory demonstrator with an optical design suitable for the realisation of an engineering model for SAGA project in a follow up activity.
