The ESA Science Programme will contribute to the NASA WFIRST mission. The WFIRST mission is NASAs next flagship mission in Astrophysics, The missions scientific goals cover a range of disciplines, in particular the study of dark energy and the study of exoplanets. ESAs contributions to WFIRST include the star tracker for the WFIRST spacecraft. The Star Tracker onboard WFIRST is used as a sensor to provide attitude for the engagement of the main mission sensor, the Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS). The required performance fits within the capability of several models of existing European equipment.
