Description:
Since January 2018, ROSA became partner in the EO4GEO project, an ERASMUS+ Sector Skills Alliance gathering 26 partners from 12 countries from academia, private and public sector active in education/training and space/geospatial sectors. EO4GEO aims to help bridging the skills gap between supply and demand of education and training in the space/geospatial sector by reinforcing the existing ecosystem and fostering the uptake and integration of space/ geospatial data and services in end-user applications. EO4GEO will work in a multi- and interdisciplinary way and apply innovative solutions for its education and training actions including: case based and collaborative learning scenarios; learning-while-doing in a living lab environment; on-the-job training; the co-creation of knowledge, skills and competencies; etc.
ROSA will lead Task 4.1 related to the identification of business processes and occupational profiles and will provide contributions to all tasks foreseen under WP1 for the development of the sectoral skills strategy. Moreover it will contribute to capacity building and dissemination activities and will cooperate within the project.
Project objectives:
EO4GEO aims to help bridging the skills gap in the space/geospatial sector by creating a strong alliance of players from the sector/community.
Our main objective is to reinforce the existing EO/GI training and education ecosystem and fostering the uptake and integration of space/geospatial data and services in end-user applications.
Activities:
EO4GEO will define a long-term and sustainable strategy to fill the gap between supply of and demand for space/geospatial education and training taking into account the current and expected technological and non-technological developments in the space/geospatial and related sectors.
A Body of Knowledge (BoK) for EO/GI

25 – 27 June 2019, EO Summit, Leuven, Belgium
In a 2.5 day event the EO-Summit is dedicated to 3 subjects closely related to the skills development and capacity building in the EO/GI sector and Copernicus User Uptake. The event is organised by SADL, the EO4GEO scientific and technical coordinator. The project representative from ROSA participates in the project meeting dedicated to Working Package 4 Design GI and EO curricula in support of Copernicus, where ROSA coordinates the 4.1 activity Identifying business processes and occupational profiles. The agenda of the meeting can be accessed here.
More details about the event can be found here.
3 February 2021, 10:00 AM, “Identification of heat islands to support city planning” Webinar
This webinar is developed within the Smart cities task in the EO4GEO project. The webinar addresses the issue of urban heat and urban heat islands, and more specifically how to use EO-derived surface temperature maps to identify areas prone to heat stress in the urban environment. It presents a theoretical background on urban heat and how to obtain information from satellite sensors.
