Since recent years the utilization of Ka-band for Earth Observation radar is under investigation. Currently missions with nadir looking instruments for ocean applications are paving the way towards the broader utilisation of Ka-band from space. Ka-band is in particular interesting for applications which require low penetration depth and/or benefit from a single platform interferometric imaging techniques with a fixed baseline. This study shall propose applications for a single platform interferometric Ka-band SAR mission, derive their mission requirements and demonstrate their performance.
