Update Reason: Loaded a new Clarification (English version)

Space optical missions require more and more stringent requirements on stray light levels. Light absorbing surfaces (black surfaces) are key for reducing the stray light in optical instruments. They are usually applied on internal and external baffle surfaces. In the recent years some new super-black materials (very absorbing materials compared to existing ones) involving different coating techniques have been developed but not yet fully tested on full size flight hardware. The recently developed super black coatings show similar performance whatever the incidence angle is which is very interesting compared to existing black coatings. Moreover, they could potentially be alternative low cost solutions. The objective of this activity is to apply and optimize recently developed super-black coatings to enable coating of representative surfaces (baffles, mounts) regarding substrate material, shape (corners/edges) and size. The tasks included in this activity shall focus on:- Optimisation of the application processes regarding the substrate types, sizes and shapes- Manufacturing of demonstrators/breadboards that will use the optimised process to enable the best opto-mechanical properties- Breadboard testing in terms of mechanical performance under specific environment/conditions- Breadboard testing in terms of optical performances (BRDF, TIS, specular reflectance)Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl. SMEs). For additional information please go to EMITS news „Industrial Policy measures for non-primes, SMEs and RD entities in ESA programmes”.
