The proposed activity aims to assess the impact on spacecraft design of controlled and semi-controlled re-entry solutions for different LEO scenarios. Currently, the LEO region is the one for which multiple constraints have to be accounted for due to the fact that it is considered a protected zone. The system level assessment will focus on various key areas of interest such as reliability andcasualty risk, propulsion system embarked on-board, attitude determination and orbital control, operational concept for the following LEO scenarios: – Case 1: 2000kg satellite using chemical propulsion and performing a controlled re-entry at the end of life – Case 2: 1000kg satellite using chemical propulsion and performing a controlled re-entry at the end of life – Case 3: 1000kg satellite using chemical propulsion and performing a semi-controlled re-entry at the end of life – Case 4: 1000kg satellite using electrical propulsion and performing a semi-controlled re-entry at the end of life
