Harmony is the tenth Earth Explorer Mission in the Earth Observation Envelope Programme. Harmony mission is composed of two satellites that orbit in formation with one of the Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellites to address key scientific questions related to ocean, ice and land dynamics. Each Harmony satellite carry a receive-only synthetic aperture radar as its main instrument working together with Sentinel-1's radar. Both Harmony satellites would also carry a multi-view thermal-infrared instrument for measurement of sea-surface temperature differences and cloud top motion.The objective of the Optical payload Phase B1 Study for the Harmony Mission is the definition of the HARMONY Thermal InfraRed payload implementation concept at Phase B1 level, to derive design and development baselines and define its subsystem requirements.In particular, the TIR payload Phase B1 Study for the Harmony Mission has the followingkey objectives:1. Consolidate the interface documentation between the TIR instrument and the spacecraft platform (supporting both system primes with their proposed platform solution). 2. Consolidate the technology development for the TIR instrument3. Consolidate the programmatic definition of the TIR instrument, including schedule, model philosophy, cost. industrial organisation, risks etc.. This shall also include the definition and agreement with the Agency of a suitable PA approach, and conducting RFP/RFI campaigns as needed.4. Consolidate the technical definition of the TIR instrument concept, in particular with respect to its subsystems.5. Consolidate the performance of the TIR instrument . Up to 3 parallel contracts of 300KE in Open competitionDuration 10 months KO expected 1rst Oct 2022, end July 2023.
