The conference Theory, Observations and Data Processing in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space and Planetary Sciences" took place on 6-8 July 2022 at the Astronomical Observatory in Cluj-Napoca.

The event was organised by the Cluj-Napoca Astronomical Observatory of the Cluj-Napoca Branch of the Romanian Academy and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the "Babeș-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca under the auspices of the Cluj Academic Days 2022, with the support of the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy and the Romanian National Committee for Astronomy.

"The conference presentations covered topics related to planetary science and the physics of the Sun, complex systems of binary, triple and multiple stars, cosmology, and black hole theory. The approaches to these topics were diverse, ranging from direct astronomical observations, analysis and modelling, to data processing using modern analysis techniques based on artificial intelligence and machine learning processes. After processing, observational data is used to develop analytical or empirical models which ultimately help to explain the phenomena and issues of the studies that were presented", said Dr Mirel Bîrlan, Director of the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy.

More than 40 researchers and teachers in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics, space and planetary sciences, mathematics and physics from Romania, Hungary, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Iran presented their paper at this event. Mădălina Trelia and Violeta Poenaru from the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) were among those present. The conference sessions were also attended by students from "Babeș-Bolyai" University.
