Les journées de l’espace at the French Institute in Bucharest

On the occasion of the ESA „Space Talks” campaign, the French Institute in Bucharest is organising the event “Les journées de l’espace”, between 29 – 31 October 2018. The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) is a partner of the event.

The event welcomes astrophysicist Françoise Combes, from Paris Observatory, professor at Collège de France, the „Galaxies and Cosmology” department, and member of the Academy for Science. Her research in galaxy formation and evolution, but also in dark matter have brought her numerous distinctions.


Mrs. Françoise Combes will have three presentations:

  • 29 October 2018, 10:00, Romanian Academy: „The dark matter puzzle” (in English);
  • 29 October 2018, 18:30, French Institute: „Le contenu et l'origine de notre Univers” (in French with simultaneous translation to Romanian);
  • 30 October 2018, 10:00, Physics Department, University of Bucharest, Magurele: „When supermassive blackholes are too greedy (in English).

The entry is free and does not require prior booking.

The event will continue on 31 October 2018, at 18:00, at the French Institute, with a session on space technologies and their applications. Miss Cristina Stancu from the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) will hold a presentation about the Agency and its educational programme, as well as a workshop for students. Representatives of companies AKKA Technologies and Terrasigna will also present at this session.
