To define maturity scale, milestones and products of the AOCS hardware unit virtual models used in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) development, inspired from the TRL definition for the equivalent hardware physical models.DescriptionModel-based for system engineering(MBSE) is key to digitalising engineering. ESA deploys it with industry through the MB4SE Harmonisation group. The goal of MBSE is (i) to replace most of the documents by models, (ii) to replace document editors with model editors, which are specific of the topic that the model is about and (iii) to transfer these models from tools to tools, all along the project development, and to enrich them, e.g. from requirements models, to architectural models, to design models, to test models, etc...Digitalisation of avionics includes using hardware virtual models (with increasing fidelity) to a larger extent for verification purpose, instead (or before the availability) of the physical models, in view of cost and schedule reduction, enriching the flexibility and interoperability of the verification facilities as well as allowing agile development of the AOCS.The hardware virtual models must be representativeenough to serve the purpose of each steps of the verification. A scale of fidelity and suitability of virtual models is to be defined. This reference framework for MBSE virtual model development will allow interchangeability and digital continuity between physical hardware and virtual models. The activity will derive, from the AOCS verification needs at each milestone, the models performance and fidelity and will deduct the models reference contents and validation steps as well as maturity scale (TRL-like) for the AOCS hardware virtual models. It will be explicitly linked to the definition of the Verification and Validation model philosophy as well as to the MBSE capabilities of the supplier. Each maturity level will be related to virtual model detailed definition (content and validation) together with corresponding milestone (objectives and products) in the model development. In order to experiment the stages of the maturity-scale, one specific example of a virtual AOCS model will be used as benchmark. Coordination with the Electronic Datasheet (EDS) activities will allow to re-use work on digitalisation of unit interface. This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Definition of models contents and validation as well as associated milestones- Definition of maturity scale for (AOCS) unit models in an MBSE development cycle- Assessment of the define maturity scale and products through existing MBSE process in space industry and use of one AOCS unit model- Recommendations for MB4SE coordinated activities and working group
