Current navigation payloads have shown remarkable performance, often well beyond specifications. Howeverthey show relatively large mass, as well as very high cost, and limited flexibility and modularity.Miniaturisation and cost reduction in RF and digital systems is achieving remarkable results in differentapplications thanks to recent technology advances. Novel technologies and manufacturing techniques willopen many opportunities to develop future navigation payloads based on very high level of integration andmodularity. This will enable a wide range of possibilities for future navigation payloads. The present activity aims at designing and developing a breadboard of the fundamental building block for future navigation payloads based on modular functions and high level of integration. Future navigation payloads will need to provide high level of modularity and reconfigurability, addressing all functional aspects of signal generation, distribution, amplification and radiation. This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Requirements Review- Technologies identification and trade-off- Design of a modular building block for future navigation payloads- Breadboarding and demonstration of identified critical functions.
