The objective of this activity is to provide the Agency with an assessment of the state-of-the-art of Mars landing modules (with different payload configurations) using ESA/European technologies having maximum heritage or TRL, plus lessons learned from development and measured flight performances, of these and other missions for which relevant information is available.The contractor shall consider one of two classes of lander, selected based on their own flown heritage: - Small Surface Station, based on airbag-assisted landing, or - Medium Surface Station, 2.4 m diameter aeroshell with propulsive landing. The contractor shall assume a spin-stabilised delivery from a Carrier Module shortly before Mars arrival, followed by ballistic entry.
