Update 30.03.2015: On 7 April, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) will organise a regional kick-off event in Bucharest for this year’s ESNC competition. Details here.

Following an agreement signed with Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO), the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) became the regional partner of the European Satellite Navigation Competition - ESNC 2015 and this year will organise the first national edition in Romania.

The competition will award the best ideas for innovative applications in satellite navigation, offering winners the necessary support and advice to open or develop a business based on their competition ideas.

The competition is open to public or private people, businesses and institutions, who have a service, product or business based on satellite navigation systems (GNSS). With annual awards totaling approximately 1 million EUR in the form of money, possibility of incubation, patent consulting, business coaching, advertising, access to technical experts and so on, the ESNC competition is supported by a network of over 240 industry or research experts which is involved in the evaluation of proposals.

Participants can enter the competition in different fields of applications, such as Location Based Services - LBS, streets and traffic management, safety and security, health, energy, augmented reality, agriculture and forestry, logistics, air transport, environmental monitoring and protection, marine environment and maritime transportation, emergency response and disaster management, games and social networking etc.

Participants in the European Satellite Navigation Competition 2015 also have the opportunity to compete for special prizes sponsored by institutional partners from industry and research. These prizes will be awarded, regardless of participation in an European partner region of the European Satellite Navigation Competition; each partner organisation will have its own team of experts commissioned to evaluate the ideas/solutions entered to compete for one of these awards.
