Memorandum of Understanding signed between ROSA and The Hellenic Space Agency

On 14 January 2019, Dr. Phys. Marius-Ioan Piso, President of the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) and Mr. Christodoulos Protopapas, Chairman of the Hellenic Space Agency (HSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding cooperation in the field of space activities for peaceful purposes, in the presence of the Greek Minister for Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media, Mr. Nikos Pappas.

The MoU comes on a foundation of common interest between the two agencies in the use of space for peaceful purposes and in the establishment of a collaboration in space projects and related technologies, and their common mission to develop European space research and applications, carried out both at national level and at European level. Both entities recognise the importance of reinforcing the European public infrastructure for space research and technology, and of capitalising on the potential of space through the development and use of concrete and innovative applications and services based on space data.

Through the signing of the Memorandum, the agencies aim to create a framework for cooperative activities, for reviewing the areas of common interest and for facilitating the exchange of information, good practice and expertise in the areas of mutual interest.

Cooperation between the two agencies could be achieved in the following areas: science and technology, including space exploration, space applications and services, security related space activities, regional cooperation on specific issues, industrial cooperation, space education, space innovation.
