Registrations open for Space App Camp 2018

on 06 July 2018

The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites Romanians passionate about mobile apps development to apply at the 2018 edition of the Space App Camp, taking place on 17–24 September. The event is organised by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO) and hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA) at ESRIN, in Frascati, Italy. Applications are open until 30 July 2018.

The purpose of the Space App Camp is to develop mobile phone applications, which will use satellite data from the European Earth Observation Programme, Copernicus. Apps can be developed under the following themes: smart farming, sustainable development, future living, smart cities, and digital transport.

Those who are interested can either apply alone or in teams of two, or four by 30 July 2018. Entrants who are not already applying as a team of four will be grouped into teams of four. The selection criteria will take into account, among others, the creativity of previous works with regard to their content, usability, design, and underlying business concepts.

If selected, the invitation will include the travel expenses and accommodation.

After a week of intense teamwork, groups will present their app to the other participants and a jury of ESA representatives on the final day of the Space App Camp. The jury will then select the winning team and offer a prize of 2,500 euro.
