The „Remote Sensing of Environment” journal is planning a “Sentinel-2 Science Special Issue” for which is has opened a call for papers. The deadline to submit contributions is 30 September 2017.
Sentinel-2A was launched on 23 June 2015, while Sentinel-2B followed two years later, on 7 March 2017. The two satellites are part of the European Earth Observation (EO) programme, led by the European Commission and carried out by the European Space Agency (ESA).
The special issue of the journal will report on mission status, the quality of Sentinel-2 products, as well as on research based on Sentinel-2 data. Among the topics to be covered are: coastal mapping and monitoring, disaster risk reduction and recovery, forest mapping and monitoring, urban mapping, water resources management etc.

ESA will fund open access for up to 24 accepted papers.
